You’re not impressing anyone if you burn out before important events, like Demo Day. So you have to decide how much last minute progress you want to make versus being physically ready for the moment. I usually lean more to the self care side, here's why:
1. Zombie Consequences
Any progress you've made as a company will be severely diminished if you show up super tired. Your best self is needed to enthusiastically explain the progress.
2. No Excuses
Of course, showing up with a bunch of energy but no progress looks absolutely terrible too, so don't do that.
3. The Plan
My suggestion is usually to push as hard as you can until a week before the big moment, and then freeze development. Leaving the rest of the week to test and recover.
