Sacrifice Old Code to Build the Right Product

Your old code is not your company, but it could be hurting your next product, if you’re trying to pivot.

1. Time investment

It’s often hard to let go of the work you put a lot of effort into, but that doesn’t mean that code is useful for the next idea.

2. Limitations Don’t Help

When you’re pivoting, it’s not usually a good idea to limit your options to ideas that fit your recent work. We want to find the best idea versus a similar idea.

3. Hard Pivots Work

There are plenty of examples of successful companies that completely changed their idea and worked out like Twitter, Shopify, Twitch and Slack.

Best of luck out there.
