Your old code is not your company, but it could be hurting your next product, if you’re trying to pivot.
1. Time investment
It’s often hard to let go of the work you put a lot of effort into, but that doesn’t mean that code is useful for the next idea.
2. Limitations Don’t Help
When you’re pivoting, it’s not usually a good idea to limit your options to ideas that fit your recent work. We want to find the best idea versus a similar idea.
3. Hard Pivots Work
There are plenty of examples of successful companies that completely changed their idea and worked out like Twitter, Shopify, Twitch and Slack.
