How to Write a Great Investor Update

I get a lot of investor updates at the beginning of each month. Here’s what I see in the best ones:

1. Lead with Growth

For better or worse, share your core growth metric upfront. If you don’t, investors will go looking for that first, perhaps ignoring most of your message.

2. Make Clear Asks

Right under your metrics, make your requests in bold. Keep them simple and make it easy for investors to help. The best founders are always asking for help.

3. Recognition

Be sure to shout out the folks who have helped recently, as this incentivizes others to start helping too.

Best of luck out there.
